My child hood house was on a street![]()
I remember fresh bottles of milk on the back porch, and how good the cream on top tasted. On lazy summer days, I would wander in the garden between the rows of corn while munching on fresh picked peas I had gathered along the way. Weekly games of hide and seek would go on well past dark. It was the kind of neighborhood where you knew everyone, and everyone lent a hand if help was needed.
Activities always culminated with great food. Homemade pies, divinity or fudge (my mom’s specialty), fresh corn on the cob, fresh fruit off the trees and homemade ice cream were regular treats. Somehow you can find a delicious morsel of food intertwined in every memory. As a small girl I remember sending two saltine crackers in the mail to my favorite Uncle. I wanted to send him something I really liked, and I liked saltine crackers. When he opened his mail he wondered why I had sent him what he thought was bird seed! From a young age I remember spending hours in the kitchen concocting interesting things, which eventually led me to a career working with food.
When I moved to Boise over 26 years ago I began working with local photographers and food companies as a food and prop stylist. Creating beautiful food and designing sets for film and advertisement requires artistically precise work, demanding patience and long hours. My love and knowledge of working with flowers was a natural evolution since designing floral arrangements was often an integral part of the set designs. So, in addition to being a food stylist, I began designing flowers for weddings and special events and finally, The Creative Bouquet became a reality. My goal for special events is to make each one as personally unique as the people surrounding it.
Flowers and nature speak their own language, so, when I am not in the photo studio, you can find me in my garden. It is my happy place. Passing on a little happy to everyone else through flowers is a pleasure. When I am in the garden or working with flowers I have quiet space to let my imagination wander, but love a house full of noisy love at the same time.
My husband, my children and grandchildren (the noisy love part) are my pride and joy. No success can ever compare to them, they are my best friends and my ultimate accomplishment.
